When You Visit
The GeorgeTown Club is open to members, their guests, and members of reciprocal clubs.
Centrally located in the historic district of Georgetown, at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Volta Place. We are approximately six miles from Reagan National airport (DCA) and two miles from the White House. In lieu of onsite overnight accommodations, the Club maintains relationships with local area hotels that offer preferred booking rates to our members and guests, specific details can be viewed under the Membership Benefits page of the website.

House Rules
It is the responsibility of members to assure that their guests are aware of and abide by the Traditions & House Rules while acting in accordance with the Bylaws of the Club. Members sponsoring functions will be held accountable for the actions of the non-members and it is the responsibility of the member to identify their guests to staff. As a reminder, The GeorgeTown Club is a cash free club and all charges must be settled against your sponsoring members account or a credit card prior to departure. Children must remain in the same room as their parents, who are responsible for assuring that children do not disrupt other members and guests.
Dress Code
From Labor Day to Memorial Day
Jackets are required for men and commensurate dress is expected for women in all areas of the Club except for the Grill, Library, and Patio. In the Grill, Library, and Patio more casual dress is permitted, including collared shirts (jacket not required) for men and commensurate dress for women. Dress denim is also permitted in those areas only. Tattered jeans, t-shirts, athletic attire including athletic shoes, baseball/trucker style hats, and beach flip flops are not permitted anywhere in the Club. Men must always wear closed-toe shoes. Ties, while still encouraged in Joseph, our Main Dining Room, are not required anywhere in the Club.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day
During the summer season, appropriate shorts are permitted in the Grill, Library, and Patio only. Nonetheless, we expect members and their guests to maintain the dignity of the Club so all members can enjoy it and be proud of it. This means any shorts worn at the Club must be at least mid-thigh length. Short-shorts, jean shorts, cargo shorts, athletic shorts, or spandex shorts are not acceptable. Footwear must also be appropriate. Beach flip-flops, crocs, teva-style sandals, and tennis, golf, running, or other athletic shoes are never appropriate.

These rules apply to adults and children. Parents are expected to ensure that their children are dressed appropriately.
If you choose to enjoy The Club’s more casual spaces and are wearing shorts, dress denim, etc. and you must pass through another room in the Club, please do so quickly.
It remains the responsibility of the member to ensure all guests follow the Dress Code regulations.
Cell Phone/PDA Policy
The use of electronic devices is prohibited in public areas of the Clubhouse. Members and their guests may accept calls in the first floor reception area for urgent communications only. In the case that you are required to take a phone call, please ask the receptionist for available options.
Service Charge, Gratuities, and Sales Tax
In accordance with Club Bylaws, Club employees are not permitted to accept any cash gratuities with the exception of valet attendants, when applicable. A service charge of 20% is applied to all food and beverage charges and is added to each member’s bill. Members wishing to show gratitude for exemplary service have the opportunity to add additional gratuity when settling charges. A 10% DC sales tax is applied to all food and beverage charges.
Alcoholic Beverages & Smoking
The Club's serves alcoholic beverages in accordance with DC Law. As such, only persons 21 years of age or older may purchase or consume alcoholic beverages at the Club and the Club reserves the right to refuse service of alcoholic beverages. A corkage fee will be charged per bottle of outside wine consumed on Club premise. Outside liquor may never be brought in, nor may alcoholic beverages of any kind be taken off premise.
The Club is a smoke-free environment and no smoking on or around the Club premises is permitted.
